About Trinity College

Henry VIII formed Trinity College in 1546 combining Michaelhouse and Kings Hall, both established in the early 1300s. With around 600 undergraduates, 300 graduates, and over 180 fellows, it is the largest in wither of the Oxford universities by number of undergraduates. It boasts an impressive list of alumni including six British prime ministers, physicists including Isaac Newton, the poet Lord Byron, philosophers and even some Soviet spies. In 1848, Trinity hosted the meeting at which Cambridge undergraduates drew up the first formal rules of football, know as the Cambridge rules. The college now exists to give its members a rewarding, richly resourced and intellectually inspiring place in which to pursue their education and research.
